2 Weeks In

Just thought I'd give everyone an update on how we've both been doing now that Sean has been in his master's program for a little over two weeks. Sean just had his first three tests on Monday and Tuesday, and can happily report that he passed them all! He got an 90 (after the grading curve was applied) on his Neuro Physiology exam, an 85 on his Anatomy Lecture exam, and a 94 on his Anatomy Lab exam (again, both after the curve). Whew! Needless to say, several classmates and spouses went out for beers last night to celebrate!

Now, on to more studying for the next bout of exams. Sean's schedule has been as busy as we expected, which my parents can attest to, having visited for 4 days last week and only seeing Sean for maybe 4 hours the entire time. He goes in to school a little before 6:00am, gets home around 8:30 in the evening, eats supper, studies some more and goes to bed by 10:30. His schedule is pretty much the same on weekends too, except for Friday evening which he spends with me, and Sunday morning when we go to church. All other weekend time is spent studying.

I've gotten used to Sean being gone most of the time, and have been keeping busy taking care of everything at home and volunteering at a magazine in DC on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This week, I also start taking Cooper (our dog) to Summer obedience classes on Saturdays. I've done a little exploring of our area by myself on the metro, and also went to the pool yesterday, both of which I'm sure to do more of over the summer. I hope to have a few family visitors over the next few months, which I'm looking forward to as well!

Anyway. Just wanted to let you all know we're adapting and surviving! Thanks to all for continuing to be considerate of Sean's lack of free-time.

11th Anniversary

Because Sean will be starting his busy class schedule on June 2, we decided to celebrate our anniversary a week early. So, on Saturday evening, we went out to a Brazilian restaurant on Pennsylvania Ave in DC. It had an amazing salad bar, wonderful sides, great dessert and drinks. . .but the most exciting and spectacular part was the meat! They prepare different kinds of seasoned meats on an open flamed (gaucho style) and then servers come to your table and cut off a portion of whatever you choose. You can sample each and every kind of meat, or just stick with one or two of your favorites. It was definitely a special experience! And SO good! Fortunately, we had planned to do a little sight-seeing after, because we definitely needed to walk off some of the food in our bellies before the metro ride home. So, we walked along Pennsylvania Ave to check out the White House and then headed down The Mall for a romantic stroll at dusk. It was a great way to celebrate our 11th Anniversary.

DC Tourists

We've had several weeks in which to tour the DC area. Below is a picture gallery of three of our trips as tourists in the Nation's Capital: 1) We took our friend Ali into the city to tour The Mall and surrounding war memorials. 2) We went to the Smithsonian museum block and took a quick tour of the gardens and the Air & Space Museum 3) We went to the National Memorial Day Parade, held on Constitution Ave in DC. There are captions with each picture that explain where we are and what's going on. Click on the picture below to open the gallery. . .
