An Unconventional Holiday Season

How's 'bout we do Christmas after we ring in the New Year? Sounded good to me. Turns out it's really all about being with those we love.

Christmas Apart

This is a first for us. Our first Christmas in 10 years decorating and celebrating apart. Danielle sent me a handfull of pics of her decorating our apartment back in San Antonio with Cooper the dog and Cali the cat. That's not the only thing she sent me. I recieved a surprise via snail mail. Inside a fairly large box I was shocked to find a complete "Christmas Decorating Party In A Box". Also included were a few items from the girls in our apartment office back home. Thanks ladies.

Enjoy!

Dani's Parents Come to Visit

We enjoyed a visit from my parents last weekend! We had quite the itinerary planned (not forgetting, of course, to schedule time for afternoon naps). We took them to the Starbucks where I work, then to Lackland Air Force Base to see where Sean works. We took them for a peaceful morning at the beautiful San Antonio Botanical Gardens and also to the Riverwalk. They also got to come to church with us and meet our friends there. It was nice to have them (as well as Buddy the dog) visit us for a few days, although kind of cramped in our apartment. Apartment living can have it's benefits however - I think dad enjoyed working-out in the clubhouse weight/exercise room and taking Buddy for walks along the dog-walk sidewalks in the mornings while everyone else was still asleep and we all enjoyed grilling and having snacks out by the pool. Be sure to check out the pictures posted on our PICS page.

Family Weekend

We enjoyed having some family down from Austin over the weekend. My second cousin came for Saturday and Sunday. We took him to the Riverwalk where we went to a "Hear Music" Starbucks, took a boat tour of the river, then went out to eat and to a jazz club on the Riverwalk. We had a great time! On Sunday, my aunt, uncle and cousin brought down another one of my cousins' boys and met us for an exciting tour of the San Antonio Zoo. It was nice to see everyone!

Deck The Halls

It's that time again. We got the itch to decorate last night...so we did. This usually consists of me assembling the tree and assisting in some of the decorating but mainly screwing around with the camera in an effort to get some good shots.

Game Day

On Sunday I got to take my Dad and my brothers to their very first Broncos game. The Broncos vs. The Jets. We drove up to Littleton and took the light rail in...which turned out to be not only convenient, but fun. Parking at the train station was free and total cost for an all day round trip ticket was $6.00.

Our seats turned out to be fantastic in spite of being in the nosebleed section. I really believe that Invesco is so well designed that just about every seat in the stadium is good.

You couldn't have asked for a better first game to go to. The Broncos dominated the Jets with a 27-0 finish. It was an exciting game too with 5 Jets turnovers. We all did plenty of jumping and screaming.

Rockies Game

We recently got box seat tickets to a Rockies game courtesy of Dani's big sis. It was pretty amazing, even though neither of us have ever been real fans of baseball. Un-American, I know. All that aside, we had an amazing time. There is nothing quite like being at a pro baseball game. The sounds, the smells. It's a whole new experience when you are there under the lights and the grass looks so soft and green. At the ballpark the magic comes alive and it starts to become apparant why America loves baseball. The point is, we had a blast! Thanks Melodie!

So these were not just regular seats. They were box seats owned by the company Dani's sister works for. It was pretty cool to watch a game at Coors field from our own private suite. AND...This is the best part...All kinds of food was provided! Brats, pizza, beer, soda, nachos, and more. I'm not sure what we enjoyed most, the game or the refreshments. To top it all off, we were allowed onto the outfield after the game to watch what turned out to be a very impressive fireworks show. How many major league ballparks actually allow their fans to step foot on their field? It was so cool to lie on the outfield grass and watch the fireworks! They turned out all the stadium lights before starting the show. It was just amazing!! They shot the fireworks off literally 30-40 yards from where we were lying. I have never been that close to this type of fireworks before. Every explosion felt like one of my brothers pounding me in the chest, only rapid fire like a machine gun. Wow!

Anyway here are a few pics taken at the game. I forgot my regular camera, so these were all snapped with my cell. Check 'em out.
